Below, we’re answering the most common questions parents ask about our school, our policies, and our educational programs.

1. Is this school tuition-based?

Vector Prep is a tuition-free public charter school. However there are certain fees for the following activities / services:

• • Lab Fee: $25.00
  • This fee covers school ID, computer lab fee, and classroom lab equipment costs.
  • *Each student must also purchase their own earphones.
• • Bus Transportation Reservation Fee: $25.00
  • Student IDs are required for ALL bus riders. A one-time fee to assure your status is required.
• • After School Dance Company or Cheer Fee: $50
  • There is a $50.00 one-time fee for students who want to further their performing arts, cheer, and dance careers.
• • Competitive Team Athletics Fee (grades 5 and up): $50.00
  • This one-time fee covers referees, supplies, uniforms, and equipment costs.
  • *If this fee is paid by end of August, no additional athletics fee is due for the rest of the year.

2. Are there boundaries to attend the school like public schools have?

Arizona state law allows students to apply for admission to any public school, based on available classroom space (A.R.S. § 15-816.01). There are no location requirements or boundaries to enroll in Vector Prep.

3. Do students have to wear uniforms?

Yes, for Vector Prep students (grades K-6) the following uniforms are required:

• • Collared, long or short sleeved, polo shirt or cotton blouse in solid green, yellow or white. Approved school logo shirts are allowed on Fridays.
• • Uniform bottoms, cotton twill pants, capris. For girls: dresses, skorts, shorts, jumpers or skirts (worn no shorter than 2 inches above the knee) in solid black or khaki/tan.
• • Layering of school clothes is permitted provided all layers are within approved school colors (solid green, yellow or white shirts; black or khaki/tan bottoms)
• • Solid black or brown belts.
• • Tennis shoes/sneakers or closed toed/closed heeled dress shoes.
• • Conservative jewelry should be worn in moderation, limiting the number of pieces worn, and not posing a danger to self or others.
• • Any student wishing to exceed/surpass the uniform dress code requirements by wearing ties, dress pants, blazers, or suits in khaki or black may do so provided dress clothing is within approved school colors (black and tan/khaki).

4. What kind of curriculum is taught?

The Skyline curriculum uses a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) to drive instruction. All curriculum is nationally recognized and is based on Common Core Learning Standards NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards), and C3 Framework (College, Career and Civic Life for Social Studies). Curriculum is streamlined from Pre-K through 12 and is housed in Atlas (centralized curriculum management system).

For ELA (English/Language Arts) students will use Core Knowledge Language Arts Listening and Learning Strand. For mathematics we use Eureka Math that integrates into the CCLS. For Science, in the NGSS, grades K-4 use FOSS (Full Option Science System and for grades 5-12 they use SEPUP (Science Education for Public Understanding Program. For Social Studies, the C3 Framework is used for all grades that aligns with CCLS. On top of those programs, we have digital support programs to compliment instruction. Grades K-4 use Study Island and grades 5-12 uses USA Test Prep and Edgenuity MyPath.

5. Do you have a counselor on campus?

We have behavior interventionists who work as counselors to help students through difficult situations.

6. What kind of sports do you offer for different grade levels?

For grades 5 and up, we currently have the options of flag football (grades 5-6), girls volleyball, football, basketball, soccer, and baseball throughout the school year. Learn more about our athletic programs here.

7. Do you have bussing?

Yes, our transportation opportunities are offered on a first come, first served basis. A one-time fee to assure your status is required.

8. What are your school hours?

School hours are Monday – Thursday 7:45AM-3:00PM.
Friday – early release: 7:45AM-12:00PM
Office hours are Monday – Friday 7:30AM-4:00PM.

9. How many students/classrooms?

There is a maximum of 33 students per classroom.
